Product Info

Begin your journey at Ullapool Harbour and travel into the spectacular wilderness of Assynt, an area renowned for its ancient mountains, lochs, rugged scenery, and fascinating Highland history. During the journey, your local guide will share stories about Ullapool, the Highland Clearances, traditional crofting life, the clans, and the remarkable geology that has shaped this landscape.

Stop at the Stac Pollaidh viewpoint, where you can enjoy magnificent views and take photographs of one of the Highlands’ most distinctive mountains. As you continue through Assynt, look out for some of the area’s famous peaks, including Suilven, Canisp, and Cul Mòr, as well as wildlife such as red deer.

The main stop is atmospheric Ardvreck Castle, dramatically situated on the shores of Loch Assynt. Enjoy approximately 40 minutes here to explore, take photographs, and hear about the castle’s history, including the MacLeods of Assynt and its connections with some of the most turbulent periods in Highland history.

The return journey takes you back through the beautiful Assynt landscape towards Ullapool, with further opportunities to admire the scenery.
