Day 1: Golden Monkey Trekking in Volcanoes National Park & Return to Kigali

Begin with an early morning pickup from Kigali, followed by a scenic drive through Rwanda's breathtaking countryside to the spectacular Volcanoes National Park. As the morning mist rises over the Virunga Volcanoes, arrive at the park headquarters for a briefing by experienced rangers before setting off into the bamboo forests.

Follow your guide along forest trails in search of the playful and endangered golden monkeys, one of Rwanda's most fascinating primates found only in the Virunga Mountains. Unlike gorillas, these energetic monkeys leap effortlessly between bamboo trees, creating endless opportunities for incredible wildlife photography and unforgettable moments.

Day 2: Transfer to Akagera National Park & Lake Ihema Boat Cruise

After breakfast, depart Kigali and journey east to Akagera National Park, Rwanda's only savannah national park and home to the legendary Big Five. Along the way, admire Rwanda's beautiful rolling hills gradually giving way to vast open plains, woodlands, lakes, and wetlands.

Upon arrival, embark on a relaxing boat cruise on the beautiful Lake Ihema, one of the park's richest wildlife habitats. Glide peacefully across the water while watching large pods of hippos, giant Nile crocodiles basking along the shoreline, and elephants or buffaloes coming to drink at the lake's edge.

The lake is also a paradise for bird lovers, with African fish eagles, kingfishers, herons, cormorants, and many other colorful bird species frequently seen throughout the cruise.

Thereafter, transfer to your lodge inside or near the park, where you can unwind and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the African wilderness.

Day 3: Big Five Game Drive & Return to Kigali

Wake up early for an unforgettable sunrise game drive, when wildlife is most active and the cool morning temperatures provide the best chance of spotting animals.
