Day 1: Historic Walks and Algiers’ Living Heritage

Begin your day with breakfast at your hotel before exploring the Casbah of Algiers, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Follow its maze of alleys and stairways and feel the atmosphere of the city’s historic heart. Visit markets and artisan workshops, meeting craftspeople such as woodworkers, metalworkers, and local artists.

Stop at the Ali la Pointe Museum, dedicated to a key figure of the Algerian resistance. Enjoy a traditional lunch at Dar Bab Azzoun before walking to the iconic Grande Poste, famous for its neo-Moorish façade. Continue to the Jardin d’Essai du Hamma, a lush botanical garden known for its impressive Australian banyan tree.

In the evening, discover the Bardo Museum (National Museum of Prehistory and Ethnography). End your day with dinner at Le Bardo, featuring Algerian wines and a jazz atmosphere.

Day 2: Archaeology by the Sea and Independence Landmarks

After breakfast at your hotel, head to Cherchell for the Archaeological Museum, set on the remains of a Roman palace. Admire marbles, mosaics, and Roman-era artifacts. Observe nearby traces of a Roman colony and an aqueduct.

Stop for lunch in Tipaza at Terraza, a terrace restaurant with views over the port. Walk through the Tipaza Archaeological Park along the seafront and discover the amphitheater, basilica, temples, and other Roman remains with the Mediterranean as your backdrop. Stop for photos at the Royal Mausoleum of Mauretania, a mysterious pyramid-like monument rising above the countryside.

In the evening, return to Algiers and take the cable car up to the illuminated Martyrs’ Memorial. Visit the National Museum of the Moudjahid, tracing Algeria’s independence struggle. End your day with a farewell dinner at Caracoya, with Mediterranean-inspired cuisine.
