Product Info

Come hungry. Spend the day walking, cooking, sharing stories, and experiencing everyday life in Ulaanbaatar.

We'll meet at the Sukhbaatar statue in the center of Sukhbaatar Square, then set off on foot through the neighborhoods of Ulaanbaatar. You'll pass local markets, schoolyards, and places where people live and work. Along the way, you'll hear the stories behind the places we pass, including the railway district where I sold soda as a child.

After the walk, we'll head to my apartment on the tenth floor, overlooking the city. We'll slow down over Mongolian herbal tea and learn to play Shagai, a traditional Mongolian ankle bone game. We'll also share a couple of Mongolian legends and stories before heading into the kitchen.

Then you'll make Tsuivan from scratch.

You'll roll the dough, cut the noodles, prepare the ingredients, and cook the dish yourself. By the time we sit down, the meal is yours. You made it.

We'll share the Tsuivan around the table, along with conversation and stories.

Before you leave, you'll take home a Tsuivan recipe card and your own Shagai set.

After the experience, we'll walk together from my apartment to nearby Peace Avenue, Ulaanbaatar's main east-west avenue. We'll say goodbye there, leaving you in a convenient part of the city to continue exploring on your own.

This is a small-group experience built around walking, cooking, conversation, and everyday life in Ulaanbaatar.
