How to Book & Use Taiwan Railway Tickets
* Taiwan Railway Ticket Booking
- Trains can be booked up to 3 months before the travel date. Trains departing within 2 days of the travel date (inclusive) are not available for booking; for example, the earliest date you can book today is 3 days from now. Should the booking window be adjusted for special reasons, we will make a separate announcement.
- This product applies to regularly scheduled Tze-Chiang Limited Express trains on all Taiwan Railway lines, including push-pull Tze-Chiang, Taroko Express, Puyuma Express, EMU3000 and DR3100 trains. Special trains, real-name trains and group trains are excluded, and EMU3000 Business Class seats are not sold.
- Each one-way journey must cover at least 150 km (based on Taiwan Railway operating distance); stations that do not meet this requirement cannot be selected. Final eligibility is subject to the Taiwan Railway booking system.
- Seats are assigned by the Taiwan Railway system and cannot be selected. Travel companions cannot specify cars or seats, and the availability of seats or adjacent seats is not guaranteed.
- Adult tickets must be purchased together with add-on items. The number of add-ons must be at least equal to the number of adult tickets, and the total order amount must not be lower than the original ticket fare. Orders consisting solely of concession tickets must include at least 1 add-on item.
- This product is limited to non-group travelers in parties of 9 or fewer.
* Concession Ticket Eligibility
- Child ticket: For children 115–150 cm tall, or 150 cm and above but under 12 years old (ID required). Available to both Taiwanese and foreign travelers. Children under 115 cm or under 6 years old (ID required) travel free but will not be assigned a seat.
- Senior ticket: For Taiwanese nationals aged 65 or above, or foreign nationals holding a permanent residence certificate.
- Disability ticket: For Taiwanese nationals holding a disability certificate.
- Disability companion ticket: If the disability certificate indicates that a companion is required for "domestic public transportation," 1 companion may enjoy the same concession. Must be purchased together with the disability ticket; Taiwanese nationals only.
- Travelers with concession tickets must carry the relevant documents for inspection when traveling. If the ticket type does not match the passenger's identity, the passenger will be treated as traveling without a ticket and must pay the full fare for the entire journey plus additional charges as stipulated.
How to Receive & Use Taiwan Railway Tickets
- This product provides e-tickets only. After your booking is confirmed, please go to "My Orders" in your KKday account to view your ticket QR code. Tickets will not be sent by email, and cannot be collected or exchanged for paper tickets at Taiwan Railway stations.
- Each ticket has its own QR code and is valid for one person only; each companion must present their own. Scanning the same QR code more than once to enter a station will affect your right to travel (you will be unable to board), so please do not forward tickets to others.
- Please scan your ticket QR code at the station gates to enter and exit. Station and train staff may inspect tickets at any time.
- Tickets are valid only for the designated train on the designated date. If you do not board your designated train, the ticket becomes invalid and cannot be used on another train.
- If you get off midway, the remaining unused section of the journey becomes invalid.
- Passengers not traveling according to the date, train, seat and ticket type stated on the ticket will be treated as traveling without a ticket and must pay the full fare for the entire journey plus additional charges in accordance with Taiwan Railway regulations.
