Take in the beauty of the Swiss Alps and lakes on a full-day private tour from Basel to Lucerne. Accompanied by a private guide, you'll travel by train to Lucerne, a city known for its spectacular mountain backdrop. Once there, you'll enjoy a one-hour boat cruise on Lake Lucerne, followed by a ride up Mount Pilatus on the world's steepest cogwheel railway. This comprehensive day trip includes all tickets for trains, boat rides, the cogwheel railway, gondola, and buses.

Upon reaching Lucerne, a boat journey to Alpnachstad awaits. As the boat glides past lakeside towns, you'll be treated to panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. In Alpnachstad, you'll board the cogwheel railway that ascends to Pilatus Kulm. This 35-minute journey takes you along narrow tracks, skirting rocky ridges and passing through verdant alpine meadows. Along the way, you’ll enjoy great views of the landscape before reaching the top of Mount Pilatus. At the mountain station of Pilatus Kulm, you can admire the vista from the viewing terraces or unwind at one of the mountain hotels. While at the peak, your guide will also take you to explore the Dragon Gallery.

The descent from Pilatus is via a gondola to Kriens. From here, a short local bus ride brings you back to Lucerne. Take some time to stroll through the city, capturing memories with photographs and visiting its most famous landmark – the Chapel Bridge. Your adventure concludes with a return to Basel SBB train station.

Your guide will be waiting for you in the departure hall, directly opposite the ticket office. Please ensure you arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the tour.

  • Know in advance:The boat and cogwheel railway are only available from May to October. During the off-season, the tour will be conducted using the gondola both ways to reach Mount Pilatus. The tour will conclude with a scenic one-hour boat ride on Lake Lucerne after returning from the mountain
