Very Important Information if you book the Option with the Basilica Cistern:
Due to an unexpected decision by the museum authorities, the Basilica Cistern has been temporarily closed and is currently not accepting visitors after the 11th of May.
Therefore, your guide will instead visit the Theodosius Cistern with you — a historic cistern that is over 100 years older than the Basilica Cistern. Both are ancient Byzantine water cisterns with a very similar atmosphere and architectural style. The main difference is that the Theodosius Cistern is smaller in size.
