Product Info

The Bizen Pottery Classroom at the studio of Bizen pottery artist Taiga Mori offers pottery experiences that anyone can easily join. In this plan, you will create your own pieces using the 'hand-forming' technique. Why not try your hand at creating your own rustic and charming Bizen pottery?
One-on-one instruction. Learn while you create
Using clay made by the artist himself from local rice paddy soil, you will create pieces the size of a teacup or sake bottle. First, you will sketch your desired design to visualize the final product. Since you will be hand-forming, you can enjoy the process of working with the clay at your own pace. You will receive careful one-on-one guidance on techniques and tips, and learn about the history and characteristics of Bizen pottery, deepening your understanding of the craft.
Open to participants from elementary school age
Children from elementary school age (6 years and older) are welcome to participate. It is a wonderful way for the whole family to make memories, and using the pieces you created together will bring even more joy. The finished pieces will be fired in the studio's climbing kiln and will be ready in about one year. Please let us know if you would like your pieces shipped to you (shipping costs apply). International shipping via EMS is also available.
Includes a tour of the climbing kiln
You can also tour the climbing kiln used to fire the pottery. Please feel free to ask for a tour.

Made by hand-molding

The kiln is used for the final, authentic finish.
