- Yaeyama Minsa is a textile made of cotton, woven in a plain weave, and produced in Ishigaki City and Taketomi Town. Its most distinctive feature is the pattern of five and four squares, which embodies the wish, 'May we be together for all eternity (five and four)...' Yaeyama Minsa weaving goes through numerous processes to become a single piece of fabric, and just as in the past, these many steps are still carried out by hand with great care. At the Minsa Kogei-kan, you can experience the 'weaving' process of Yaeyama Minsa weaving yourself. Our instructors will provide direct and careful guidance, so even beginners can enjoy the experience with peace of mind. ※For International Customers※ Works created during the weaving experience require time for finishing and cannot be picked up on the same day. Only those who can pick up their work approximately two days later or later, or who have a shipping address within Japan, are eligible to participate in the weaving experience. We appreciate your understanding.

- The Table Centerpiece (Large) course takes approximately 50 to 90 minutes. Please feel free to join us during your free time. We have 3 looms available. Please note that for groups of 3 or more, participants will need to take turns. Works created during the weaving experience require time for finishing and cannot be taken home on the same day. Participation in the weaving experience is limited to those who can pick up their work approximately two days later or later, or those who have a shipping address within Japan. We appreciate your understanding. Shipping to one location is free. For two or more locations, a shipping fee (￥400) will be charged.
