'Yaeyama Minsa' is a textile made of cotton, woven in a plain weave, and produced in Ishigaki City and Taketomi Town. Its most distinctive feature is the pattern of five and four squares, which carries the meaning of 'May we be together forever.' Yaeyama Minsa weaving goes through numerous steps to become a single piece of fabric, and just as in the past, these many steps are still performed by hand with great care. At the Minsa Kogei-kan, you can experience the 'weaving' process, one of the steps of Yaeyama Minsa weaving, for yourself. Our instructors will provide direct and careful guidance, so even beginners can enjoy the experience with peace of mind. ※For International Customers※ Works created during the weaving experience require time for finishing and cannot be picked up on the same day. Only those who can pick up their work approximately two days later or later, or who have a shipping address within Japan, are eligible to participate in the weaving experience. We appreciate your understanding.
【Course B: Table Center (Small) Making】
The Table Center (Small) course takes about 30 to 50 minutes. Please feel free to join us during your free time. We have two looms available. Please note that for groups of two or more, you will take turns using the looms. Works created during the weaving experience require time for finishing and cannot be taken home on the same day. Only those who can pick up their work approximately two days later or later, or who have a shipping address within Japan, are eligible to participate in the weaving experience. We appreciate your understanding. Shipping to one location is free. For two or more locations, a shipping fee (¥400) will be charged.
