  • Togakushi Shrine
Located in the Togakushi Highlands in the northern part of Nagano City, Nagano Prefecture, this is one of Japan's historic sacred sites for mountain worship. It consists of five shrines: Hokosha, Hinomikosha, Chusha, Kuzuryusha, and Okusha. The approach to Okusha requires a walk through a towering cedar forest for about 2 kilometers, creating a solemn and mysterious atmosphere that is considered a powerful spiritual energy spot. Each of the five shrines is dedicated to a different deity, where visitors can pray for victory, academic success, family safety, good fortune, and matchmaking. The surrounding area is famous for its soba noodles, forest bathing, and stream trails, offering a serene destination that combines spiritual practice, hiking, and gourmet food. Togakushi soba is particularly renowned, attracting visitors to savor the local mountain flavors after their pilgrimage.

  • Jigokudani Monkey Park
Located in the Shiga Highlands of Yamanouchi Town, Nagano Prefecture, the Jigokudani Monkey Park is world-famous for the unique sight of wild Japanese macaques (snow monkeys) bathing in hot springs during winter. The park preserves its original natural environment and is home to a troop of about 150 monkeys. Visitors can observe their daily lives up close throughout the year, and in winter, it is possible to capture the iconic scene of snow-covered landscapes and monkeys in the hot springs. Reaching the park requires a 30–40 minute walk along a mountain trail, allowing visitors to enjoy the beauty of Nagano's forests. It is a signature destination that combines wildlife observation with a nature experience.

  • Iiyama Kamakura (Snow Hut)
Iiyama City is one of Japan's regions with heavy snowfall, receiving several meters of snow each year, which has led to the development of a unique 'Kamakura (snow hut) culture.' During the Kamakura Village Festival (late January to late February), dozens of snow huts of various sizes are scattered across the venue. Stepping into a snow cave built from pure white snow feels like entering a fairy tale world, making it a romantic, winter-exclusive scene. Additionally, you can experience enjoying local specialty dishes inside a snow hut.

  • Sake Brewery Tour
Combining history and sake culture, this tour allows you to learn about the production processes of Japanese sake, miso, amazake, and plum wine. The factory preserves old buildings from the Taisho era and features an on-site shop selling a wide variety of sake, miso, amazake, and local specialties.

  • Zenko-ji Temple
With a history spanning over 1,400 years, Zenko-ji is Nagano's most iconic national treasure-level temple, often described as a 'pilgrimage one must make at least once in a lifetime.' The magnificent wooden main hall and the mysterious 'Kaidan Meguri' (underground passage ritual) attract countless worshippers. After your visit, you can enjoy Shinshu soba and local snacks along the approach, soaking in the charm where history and culture intertwine.
  • Fruit Picking Experience: Nagano Prefecture features distinct four seasons and significant temperature differences between day and night, making it one of Japan's representative fruit-producing regions, often called the 'Fruit Kingdom.' From early summer to autumn, you can enjoy various fruit-picking experiences, perfect for planning a seasonal day trip.

Early Summer (June–July) | Cherries

Known as the 'rubies of early summer,' the Sato Nishiki variety is the most popular. The fruits are small but high in sugar content with a hint of tartness, offering a refreshing taste. The picking season is short and highly exclusive, making them perfect for seasonal limited-time offerings.

Midsummer (July–August) | Peaches

Nagano peaches are rich in aroma and have soft, juicy flesh, making them one of the most popular fruit-picking experiences in summer. Most experiences involve on-site tasting plus picking to take home, suitable for families and relaxed itineraries.

Late Summer to Autumn (August–October) | Grapes

Includes popular varieties such as Kyoho and Shine Muscat. With high sugar content and plump berries, most orchards offer 'all-you-can-eat within a time limit,' providing a highly satisfying and immersive experience.

Autumn (September–November) | Apples

Nagano is one of Japan's largest apple-producing regions, with a wide variety of cultivars (such as Fuji and Shinano Sweet). They are crisp, juicy, and have a perfect balance of sweetness and acidity. It is ideal to combine this with autumn foliage trips for a strong sense of the season.
