Product Info

【Product Introduction】

Humpback whales arrive in the warm waters of Okinawa from late December to early April to breed. Surrounded by rich coral reefs and schools of tropical fish, the waters around Zamami Island in Okinawa are the perfect breeding ground for humpback whales in winter. Okinawa whale watching is a seasonal winter activity. Adult humpback whales can weigh up to 30 tons and reach lengths of about 15 meters. Do not miss this chance to encounter the world's largest mammals and capture a moving moment this winter. Board a high-speed motorboat and feel the thrill of the splashing waves and the vibrations of the hull as you become one with the whales. You can admire the swimming humpback whales up close from the boat and fully experience the charm of marine ecology.

【Whale Sighting Probability】

Many travelers ask whether the success rate of whale watching differs between the morning and afternoon sessions, or if rainy weather affects the chances of spotting whales.

Since this tour involves observing wild whales, it is an experience entirely dictated by nature; the timing and location of whale appearances depend solely on their natural behavior. Based on our team's years of experience, whales appear during our tours in the vast majority of cases, and we see them almost every day. However, there are rare days when we may not encounter whales due to their expanded range or changes in behavior. Over the four-month whale watching season, failing to spot a whale is extremely rare, typically occurring on only a handful of days. Whale Watching Guarantee: If no whales are spotted on the day of your tour, you may participate again for free before April 4, 2027. ※The tour is considered successful if a whale's blow is sighted or if other guests on the boat spot a whale.

【Items to Bring for the Whale Watching Tour】

  • Motion Sickness Medicine: Okinawa's winter is often affected by northeast monsoons, leading to rough seas. Even on cruise ships or large yachts, you will feel significant movement. Therefore, we strongly recommend that participants take motion sickness medicine before the activity starts to ensure a more comfortable journey. Motion sickness medicine cannot be purchased on-site.

  • Windproof and Warm Jacket: The wind at sea is strong and the temperature is low. We recommend wearing a windproof and warm jacket, along with a beanie. Please avoid wearing hats that can be easily blown away to prevent inconvenience.

  • Non-slip Sneakers: The deck may be slippery or bumpy, so please wear non-slip sneakers and avoid unstable footwear such as high heels.

  • Anti-slip Camera Strap: When taking photos with a camera or smartphone, we recommend using a camera or phone strap to secure the device to your hand to prevent it from accidentally slipping into the sea and to ensure safety.
