— Park Introduction —

  • Wulai Yunxian Paradise, located about 27 kilometers southeast of Taipei City, is the only mountainous township in Taipei County. The entire area is lush with trees, flowing streams, and surrounded by mountains. The renowned Wulai Waterfall's source is a scenic spot with lakes and mountains, ancient trees reaching for the sky, misty forests, and the sounds of butterflies, cicadas, and birdsong—a veritable paradise. However, the cliffs along the Nanshi River prevented visitors from fully appreciating this beauty. Therefore, an aerial cable car project was initiated to present the pristine natural landscape to the public. Because of its naturally beautiful scenery, with each season offering its own unique charm, it was named "Yunxian Paradise" (meaning "Cloud Fairy Paradise").

  • Wulai trolley (closed for maintenance on the first Tuesday of every month).
Initially used for transporting timber, the Wulai trolley was converted into a passenger vehicle in 1963 to meet the growing tourist demand following the development of tourism to Wulai Waterfall. Initially propelled by human labor, it was motorized in 1963 with diesel engines to handle the increasing number of visitors. In 1976, overcoming numerous difficulties, a tunnel was dug at the waterfall station to replace the original roundabout, which remains in use today. The route runs approximately 1.6 kilometers from Wulai Station to the waterfall station, operating daily from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with adjusted hours during the summer peak season to provide on-demand service. When visiting Wulai Old Street, the trolley is a popular attraction for both adults and children.

  • Wulai Forestry Life Hall (Closed every Tuesday)
The Wulai Forestry Life Museum, formerly known as the Wulai Trolley Museum, boasts stunning waterfall views and serves as a repository for historical artifacts related to trolleys. The museum offers daily trolley rides and guided tours, as well as weekend retreats featuring relaxing and rejuvenating art and cultural activities. We welcome friends who love nature and art to enjoy our visit. (For even better views of Wulai Waterfall, visit the large terrace on B3 of the Forestry Life Museum.)

  • Wulai Waterfall is the waterfall with the largest drop in northern Taiwan. During the Japanese occupation, it was listed as one of the Eight Scenic Wonders of Taiwan and is also known as the "Waterfall Where Clouds Come". When there is abundant rainfall, Wulai Waterfall forms two waterfalls that cascade down from the valley, showing a magnificent beauty. In spring, you can also enjoy the pink cherry blossoms blooming beside the waterfall, which adorn the waterfall and the surrounding mountains.

  • Wulai Old Street refers to the area around Wulai Street, Waterfall Road, and Huanshan Road. The shop signs are uniform and look very neat. Most of the shops feature indigenous characteristics, so tourists can taste indigenous mountain delicacies such as charcoal-grilled wild boar, onsen eggs, moon peach rice, bamboo rice, macaque dishes, mountain ferns, and pearl onions. These are indigenous dishes that are rarely seen elsewhere. In addition, there are local specialties such as millet wine and millet mochi, which are also very suitable as souvenirs for friends and family. You can also watch mountain song and dance performances here and feel the enthusiasm and vitality of the indigenous people.

  • If you're spending a day at the Wulai Visitor Center, you can also visit the area in front of the center. The center provides tourist brochures, introduces the area, and you can get a commemorative stamp to leave a lasting impression and deepen your understanding of Wulai. After exiting the center, you can relax in the hot spring foot bath on the right (please bring your own small towel to dry your feet).
