The itinerary may be changed to other attractions (at your own expense) depending on the weather (such as Udo Island cannot be visited) or the temporary closure of the attraction or other reasons.
Udo Island, also known as Peanut Island, offers diverse natural beauty. Must-see attractions include Udo Peak (Udobong), where you can enjoy panoramic ocean views, and the stunning Sanho Beach (Coral Beach) with its unique white sand composed of red algae fragments. Don't miss the distinctive black lava cliffs and the charming lighthouse complex, providing picturesque scenery and tranquil spots for relaxation.
To reach Udo Island from Jeju, visitors typically take a ferry from Seongsan Port on Jeju Island. The ferry journey itself is relatively short, usually taking about 15-20 minutes. Ferries operate frequently throughout the day, providing convenient access to Udo Island, allowing for a comfortable and scenic ride across the water.
Once on Udo Island, visitors have several convenient options for getting around. Many choose to rent bicycles or electric scooters/bikes, which are perfect for leisurely exploring the island's coastal roads at your own pace. Alternatively, there is an island tour bus service that circles the main attractions, offering a hassle-free way to see the highlights with designated stops.
Udo Island offers a variety of unique experiences. You can indulge in local specialties such as Udo peanut ice cream and peanut makgeolli, which are famous on the island. Exploring hidden coves, enjoying leisurely walks along the picturesque beaches, and visiting the charming cafes are popular activities. Some visitors also enjoy fishing or even snorkeling in the clear waters during warmer months.
For stunning photos, Udo Island's Sanho Beach is ideal with its unique coral sand and turquoise waters. Udo Peak also offers breathtaking panoramic views of the island and surrounding ocean. At Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak, capturing the majestic crater at the summit and the dramatic coastal cliffs from various viewpoints along the walking trails provides truly iconic shots, especially during sunrise.
The optimal seasons to visit Jeju Island are typically spring (April to June) and autumn (September to November). In spring, the island bursts with vibrant cherry blossoms and canola fields, offering pleasant weather. Autumn brings mild temperatures and beautiful fall foliage, making it perfect for outdoor activities and exploring attractions like Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak without extreme heat or heavy rainfall.
On Udo Island, visitors must try the famous Udo peanuts, which are incorporated into various treats like peanut ice cream, peanut makgeolli (rice wine), and peanut snacks. Additionally, fresh seafood dishes are abundant, with options like Hallasan bokkeumbap (fried rice often shaped like Mount Hallasan) and haemul ttukbaegi (spicy seafood stew) being popular choices that showcase the island's rich marine bounty.
For exploring key attractions like Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak and Seopjikoji, round-trip transfers are provided, ensuring convenient and worry-free transportation between destinations. A professional local guide (often a Chinese-speaking guide) accompanies the tour, offering insightful commentary and local knowledge about the sites, enhancing the overall exploration experience and making travel seamless and informative.
