- Open Water Course: Duration 2.5-3 days
The course consists of 3 sections:
- Knowledge Development: E-learning conducted prior to arrival
- Confined Water Training: Conducted in one of the many beautiful shallow bays around the island or in a swimming pool
- Open Water Training: 4 Open Water training dives at Koh Tao’s amazing dive sites
Day 1
- 7:15 am–7:45 am: Meet at Black Turtle Dive to complete paperwork
- 8:00 am–12:00 pm: Confined water training dives 1-3*
- 12:00 pm–1:00 pm: Lunch
- 1:00 pm–5:00 pm: Confined water training dives 4 & 5*
*These are approximate times. All PADI courses, including the Open Water course, are performance-based, and each person progresses at their own pace.
Day 2
- 11:00 am–12:00 pm: Complete Open Water Diver Quick Review
- 12:30–5:00 pm: Open Water training dives 1 & 2 at some of Koh Tao’s amazing dive sites
- Swim Test
Day 3
- 12:30 pm–5:00 pm: Open Water training dives 3 & 4 at some of Koh Tao’s amazing dive sites. You are now a certified PADI Open Water diver, with a license to dive to a depth of 18 meters with a buddy around the world!
2. Advanced Open Water Course: Duration 1.5–2 days
The diving course consists of 2 sections:
- Knowledge Development: E-learning conducted prior to arrival
- Open Water Training: 5 Open Water training dives at Koh Tao’s amazing dive sites
Day 1
- 9:00 am–11:30 am: Orientation & Knowledge Development at Black Turtle Dive
- 12:30 pm–5:00pm: Underwater Navigation Adventure dive plus 1 elective Adventure dive
- 6:30 pm–8:00pm: Night Adventure dive*
*These are approximate times.
Day 2
- 7:00 am–11:00 am: Deep Adventure dive plus 1 elective Adventure dive
- 11:30 am–12:00 pm: Certification
*The night dive is one of your 3 elective dives. It is a highly recommended adventure dive but not required. You are now a certified PADI Advanced Open Water diver with a license to dive to a depth of 30 meters with a buddy!
3. Fun dive (Including 2 dive)
There are 2 boat trips everyday (2 dives per round):
- Morning session: 6:45 am–11:30 am
- Afternoon session: 12:00 pm–5:30 pm
4. Discovery Scuba Diving (Including 1 dive)
The Experience program consists of 3 sections:
- Knowledge Development: You'll be guided through the Discover Scuba Diving participant guide, focusing on key safety concepts. A simple 9-question quiz ensures full understanding.
- Confined Water Training: Conducted in one of Koh Tao's beautiful shallow bays, this session introduces breathing underwater and teaches basic scuba skills.
- Open Water Dive: Enjoy a fun-filled underwater adventure as your instructor guides you around the bay, showcasing the beautiful coral reef.
The Discover Scuba Experience is conducted over half a day as follows:
- 11:00 am–12:00 pm: Orientation followed by completing the Discover Scuba participant guide
- 12:30 pm–5:30 pm: Shallow water training followed by dive

- To enroll in a PADI Open Water diver course, participants must be able to float for 10 minutes and swim either 200 meters freestyle or 300 meters using a mask, snorkel, and fins
- To enroll in a PADI Advanced Open Water diver course, participants must be at least 12 years old and hold an Open Water Diver certification or its equivalent
- To enroll the Fun Dive course, participants must be 10 years old and must have a diving certificate to join the course
