-What you can expect-
Paddle out into alpine waters with a kayaking trip that shows off the idyllic scenery of Lake Brienz.

The winter months offer some of the most breath-taking views of Lake Brienz and this is also the time of year when we truly have the lake to ourselves. Whatever the weather, you are guaranteed to have an unforgettable experience. Fit for explorers of all skill levels, this outing features the beautifully turquoise mirror-like water reflecting snow covered mountains, towering cliffs and the historic Ringgenberg Castle.

Meet your guide at the office on the lake's southern shore, where you will be provided with all the equipment to launch into the water. The excursion leads you across the mouth of the River Lütschine and past the towns that line the lake's northern shore. Look up at the 12th-century citadel of Ringgenberg Castle as you glide out toward the wilderness and hidden beaches that lie farther north along the lake. Along the way, your guide offers some advice to help you hone your paddling skills, and you can get some spectacular photos to capture the beauty of the Swiss Alps from a great new angle.

The session lasts 3 hours of which you will spend around 2 hours on the water. You are also offered both group tours and private sessions (tours' coaching) for a tailor made trip out on the lake. You are provided Palm's top of the range Aleutian dry suits and boots to keep you dry. Hard-earned cups of tea to warm you up after your paddle will also be ready at your arrival.

This guided tour ensures a safe and enriching adventure, making it highly recommended for those seeking an unforgettable natural immersion.

2. What makes Lake Brienz's water uniquely blue, especially when experienced by kayak?

Lake Brienz's distinctive turquoise blue color comes from fine glacial sediment, often called "rock flour," carried into the lake by meltwater from surrounding glaciers. These tiny mineral particles remain suspended in the water, scattering sunlight and predominantly reflecting blue and green wavelengths. Experiencing this phenomenon by kayak provides an unparalleled close-up view of the vibrant water, allowing for an immersive connection with its unique natural beauty that is rarely seen elsewhere.

It generally features more untouched, rugged shorelines and a quieter, more secluded atmosphere, ideal for nature lovers. In contrast, Lake Thun has clearer, deeper blue waters and is dotted with more towns, castles, and developed areas along its shores, offering a different blend of nature and cultural sights.

8. What should participants wear or prepare for a Winter Half Day Kayak tour on Lake Brienz?

For a Winter Half Day Kayak tour on Lake Brienz, participants should prioritize warmth and comfort. While specialized dry suits are typically provided to keep you dry and insulated on the water, it's recommended to wear warm base layers underneath (e.g., thermal underwear, fleece). Essential items to bring include a warm hat, gloves, wool socks, waterproof outerwear if not already covered by the dry suit, a water bottle, and sunglasses. Being prepared ensures a comfortable and enjoyable experience amidst the winter scenery.
