— What You Can Expect —
Discover Antonín Dvořák (1841-1904), a prominent Czech composer of romantic music, whose inspiration stemmed from the idioms and melodies of Moravian and Bohemian folk songs. Compose symphonic, choral, and chamber music, with notable works including the New World Symphony, the Slavonic Dances, the American String Quartet, and the Cello Concerto in B minor. He also wrote operas, the best known of which is Rusalka.
Witness the performance in the splendid Baroque pleasure house, Villa America, originally constructed as a summer palace, which has enchanted aristocrats for two centuries with its stylish interiors and grounds.
Admire the beautiful ceiling fresco, "Rise of Apollo," by Jan Ferdinand Schor, and an imposing Baroque fireplace adorning the space. The concert showcases musicians in period costumes, and the maestro, Antonín Dvořák, is expected to arrive at any moment.
Enjoy performances presented in English and Czech, with arias performed in their original language. Take advantage of multilingual programs; the performance is approximately 80 minutes long without an interlude.
