— What You Can Expect —

Experience Koh Phi Phi with a private longtail boat on a day tour departing from Phuket, including all the transfers.

  • Maya Bay
Visit one of the most beautiful beaches in Thailand and in the world! Several movies have been filmed at this gorgeous location, with "The Beach" movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio as the most famous. Maya Bay was closed for 4 years for the restoration of corals and wildlife, and since the reopening, you are not allowed to go into the sea anymore. Because of this, sometimes you will see baby sharks swimming in the ocean while walking on this paradise beach.
*Maya Bay will close every year in August and September due to nature preservation. At this time, the tour will spend longer at other spots
  • Pileh Lagoon
This lagoon is the perfect spot to cool down and take a swim in the turquoise waters while admiring the cove-like canyon which literally cuts into the Phi Phi Leh island.
  • Monkey Bay
At this bay, multiple beaches can be found where you will see crab-eating macaque monkeys in their natural habitat. They may look nice but they are aggressive. Please stay at a safe distance and don't touch them as they may bite and multiple rabies shots are needed at the hospital. (Even though monkeys are there 90% of the time, it is not guaranteed as we cannot predict wildlife)
  • Viking Cave
Viking Cave is one of the main attractions at Phi Phi Leh. Although it is not allowed to go inside the cave, all the boat tours stop here close enough to take pictures. There are many stories to be found about it, however, nobody really knows what the exact history is.
  • Snorkel Experience
Phi Phi is one of the most beautiful places in the world to snorkel. Colorful fish and gorgeous corals are guaranteed to be seen at every snorkel spot. You might even see some harmless black-tip reef sharks if you are lucky.

FAQ

1. How does a private longtail boat enhance the Phi Phi Islands exploration?

A private longtail boat offers exclusive access and flexibility, allowing you to customize your itinerary with an experienced captain. You can explore iconic spots like Maya Bay, Pileh Lagoon, and Monkey Beach at your own pace, avoiding crowds and enjoying a more intimate connection with the stunning natural beauty. It provides a traditional, authentic Thai island hopping experience.

2. What are the typical transportation options available on the Phi Phi Islands?

On Phi Phi Don, the main island, you can walk to most places as it's small and car-free. For longer distances or reaching secluded beaches, longtail boats are the primary mode of transport, easily hired for custom trips. There are also local taxis, which are typically small, motorized tricycles or quad bikes for specific routes.

3. What are the primary methods for transferring from Phuket to the Phi Phi Islands?

The most common ways to travel from Phuket to the Phi Phi Islands are by public ferry or speedboat. Ferries are generally slower but more economical, departing from Rassada Pier in Phuket Town. Speedboats offer a faster journey and often include hotel transfers, making them a popular choice for day trips. Both options land at Tonsai Pier on Phi Phi Don.

4. What type of transfers are included for a Phi Phi Islands day trip from Phuket?

A comprehensive Phi Phi Islands day trip from Phuket typically includes round-trip hotel transfers by private taxi, ensuring a comfortable start and end to your day. The transfer between Phuket and Phi Phi Island is usually via a shared speedboat, which offers a quick and efficient journey to the islands. Once at Phi Phi, a private longtail boat is provided for island exploration.

5. What activities can visitors enjoy at Maya Bay on the Phi Phi Islands?

At Maya Bay, visitors can admire its iconic white sand beach and towering limestone cliffs, famously featured in "The Beach" movie. Activities primarily include relaxing on the beach, taking photographs of the stunning scenery, and wading in the shallow, clear turquoise waters. Swimming directly in the bay is typically restricted to protect the fragile coral ecosystem, but you can enjoy the view.

6. What kind of experience does swimming in Pileh Lagoon offer?

Swimming in Pileh Lagoon offers a truly immersive and serene experience within a breathtaking natural setting. Enclosed by towering limestone cliffs, the lagoon features calm, emerald green waters perfect for swimming and snorkeling. It feels like a hidden paradise, providing a tranquil escape to enjoy the pristine marine environment and stunning geological formations.

7. What is the best time of year to visit the Phi Phi Islands for optimal weather and conditions?

The best time to visit the Phi Phi Islands is generally during the dry season, from November to April. During these months, you can expect sunny skies, calm seas, and comfortable temperatures, making it ideal for island hopping, swimming, and various water activities. The peak season is usually from December to February, which sees the most favorable weather but also higher crowds.

8. Is the Phi Phi Islands day trip suitable for all types of travelers, considering crowd levels?

A Phi Phi Islands day trip with a private longtail boat is highly suitable for travelers seeking a more personalized and comfortable experience, as it allows for greater flexibility in avoiding peak crowd times at popular spots. While the main attractions can be busy, the private boat helps manage the experience, making it enjoyable for families, couples, and friends who prefer a tailored itinerary and hassle-free logistics.
