【Announcement】

  • Manyueyuan National Forest Recreation Area and Dongman Trail (Manyueyuan Section)
Closed on 2/10 for trail pavement restoration work
Due to slope reinforcement work previously conducted on the hiking trail from 0.45K to 0.6K to ensure slope stability and visitor safety, the main construction is nearing completion. To carry out the restoration of the asphalt pavement affected during construction and to perform general environmental cleanup, the park will undergo its final phase of work. Considering that the repaving process requires heavy machinery, the Manyueyuan National Forest Recreation Area and the Dongman Trail (Manyueyuan Section) will be closed for one day on February 10 to ensure visitor safety; the area will be temporarily closed to the public on that day. This is the final stage of work for this section, and upon completion, it will provide visitors with a safer and more comfortable recreational environment. We apologize for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding. For more information, please visit the 'Taiwan Forest Recreation Website'.

Located about a 40-minute drive from Sanxia District, the Manyueyuan National Forest Recreation Area sits at an elevation between 300 and 1,700 meters. The area is humid and cool year-round, fostering a rich fern ecosystem where even the environmentally sensitive 'Crepidomanes auriculatum' can be found. In the past, there was small-scale logging here, and today's orderly man-made forests bear witness to that era. The area is home to a rich variety of birds, amphibians, and butterflies; rare species such as the White-throated Laughingthrush and the Varied Tit are among the star attractions of Manyueyuan! Every year around December, the maple foliage here is stunningly beautiful, earning it the reputation of being the 'most beautiful low-altitude maple forest in Taiwan'.

The Manyueyuan Waterfall and Virgin Waterfall, located at the end of the hiking trail, are the two major scenic highlights of the recreation area. Looking from the Manyue Bridge, one can see a large rock wall over ten meters high obscuring the upper part of Manyueyuan Waterfall, with the water cascading down in a magnificent display. The Virgin Waterfall is more gentle and graceful; on sunny days, the light refracts through the spray, often creating brilliant rainbow-like colors.

The ticket verification counter at Manyueyuan National Forest Recreation Area, displaying park information, ensures quick entry for visitors to enjoy New Taipei's family-friendly outdoor activities.
