Zao Waka no Yado Wakamatsuya is located on a hill in Zao Onsen at an altitude of approximately 880m. It boasts beautiful views of the Zao mountain range, one of the 100 Famous Japanese Mountains, and a 100% natural, free-flowing, highly acidic sulfur spring praised as a 'miracle spring' by the local poet Mokichi Saito. With an abundant flow of 5,700 liters per minute, our open-air bath, carved from an 18-ton Zao stone, provides deep warmth through far-infrared effects.

Our guest rooms are designed with a focus on Japanese aesthetics and scenic views, including suites with semi-open-air baths on the top floor. Savor seasonal Yamagata kaiseki cuisine, rich in local character, in a private dining room or in the comfort of your own room. Breakfast features a traditional Japanese set menu with local ingredients and regional dishes. Guests can also enjoy tanka and haiku poetry within the inn and visit our Waka poetry gallery. How to Get There
Parking available for 60 cars, free, first come first served. Parking lot 1 (automatic snow melting) is right in front of the building. Shuttle service to Zao Onsen Bus Terminal.

Cancellation Policy

  • Cancellations 4 day(s) (inclusive) before the selected date are allowed. Unused orders can be canceled for free
  • For cancellations made 3 to 3 days prior to selected date, a cancellation fee of 20% will apply
  • For cancellations made 2 to 2 days prior to selected date, a cancellation fee of 30% will apply
  • For cancellations made 1 to 1 days prior to selected date, a cancellation fee of 50% will apply
  • Cancellation is not allowed between 0–0 days from the selected date. Orders cannot be canceled or modified, and refunds will not be granted.
NOTE
  • Due to time zone differences, the confirmed cancellation date is based on the supplier’s local time. Please allow 2–5 business days to process your cancellation request, after which the cancellation fee will be charged according to the product’s cancellation policy. Once your refund request is confirmed, KKday will initiate the refund to your original payment method within 15 days. The actual refund timing depends on your card-issuing bank’s policy.
