Chiang Rai

Give a thumbs up to our driver Mr Thanapon, he drive very safe and steady. In the 3 hour ++ journey we are able to rest and sleep in the car. We will look for him next time when we come back to Chiang Mai.

Our guide, Ah Long, provided a detailed overview of Chiang Rai's history, including the origins of the White and Blue Temples. Through his explanations, we learned that Chalermchai Kositpipat, the creator of the White Temple, was inspired by divine favor and the excellent rule of King Rama IX of Thailand. He and his disciples dedicated their artistic talents to building the White Temple and participating in the renovation of the Blue Temple, as a way to give back to society and the people. Furthermore, the guide delved into the founder's collecting philosophy and unique architectural techniques of the Baan Dam Museum, as well as the history of the Golden Triangle. He also provided detailed and vivid accounts of the lifestyles, livelihoods, and eventual settlements of the Yunnan-Burmese ethnic minorities who migrated to northern Thailand due to war, offering valuable insights. Because of the hot weather, the guide thoughtfully provided blue ice cream and small pineapples to quench our thirst. Although it was the rainy season, the afternoon showers did not dampen our spirits or make the weather more comfortable. The round trip to Chiang Rai was quite long, but the driver drove safely throughout, ensuring we all arrived at the various attractions safely. Our guide, Ah Long, not only provided professional commentary but also enthusiastically shared local information, including details and suggestions for the Sunday Night Market, which we planned to visit later. The entire trip was rich in content and meticulously planned, allowing us to not only appreciate beautiful sights but also gain a deeper understanding of the local culture and history—a truly fulfilling and enjoyable travel experience. ★★★★★

The driver arrived in front of the hotel right on time, and the tour proceeded comfortably according to the schedule we had arranged in advance. I lost my wallet during the trip and couldn't find it, but I was grateful for the driver's efforts to help me find it, even going the way we had come. It was great to be able to eat delicious and very affordable mangoes at the Chiang Rai market, which we briefly stopped by at the end. My companions were also satisfied, and we had a fulfilling day tour.
