Thank you, Kear and Yoon, for the wonderful tour! We signed up as a family of seven, including three children ages 3, 5, 10, and 12, and a 78-year-old senior citizen. Moong Tours provided a large vehicle with seating for nine. They accommodated our energy needs by shortening our visits to specific spots, avoiding waking our tired, sleeping children, and even suggesting a rock-stacking game that the kids enjoyed. One particularly memorable experience was when they made a makeshift walking stick for an elderly person who had difficulty walking (he had forgotten his walking stick at the hotel) out of bamboo from the bamboo forest. This allowed him to walk more comfortably. They even made a handmade toy for our child out of the remaining bamboo. Our whole family is grateful for their kind hospitality! Other reviews have already mentioned the great points of the seven attractions on this tour, so I won't go into detail here. However, I've heard that Japanese people rarely visit Chiang Rai, which is a shame. If you're traveling to Thailand, I definitely recommend the north over the south coast! Chiang Rai is popular with Western tourists and is highly regarded as a global tourist destination. Compared to big cities like Bangkok, time flows more slowly and peacefully. It boasts a history dating back to the Lanna dynasty and magnificent temples. Thanks to its border location, you can see the harmonious culture of multiple ethnic groups. The traditional cuisine of the north is also a must-try. Lunch was a Thai buffet. They ordered mild fried chicken in advance, separate from the buffet, so the kids could eat it (at no extra cost). The small pineapples, a local specialty, are incredibly sweet and delicious! The pad thai was delicious, of course, but the green eggplant tempura was especially praised by everyone, from children to seniors. The water provided in the cooler on board stayed perfectly chilled by the end of the tour. I'm glad we chose Chiang Rai and this tour! My kids have said they want to visit a long-neck tribe village again when they're older. We look forward to seeing them again!
The most classic itinerary in Chiang Mai! Includes pick-up and drop-off from your city hotel (even if you're not staying in the Old City), stops at Long Neck Village (entrance fee included), a foot bath at the hot springs (including 3 hot spring eggs per person), White Temple (entrance fee included), a buffet lunch at the bar (delicious!), Blue Temple (including ice cream), and the Black House (including peeled pineapple)! It's incredibly good value! The guide is a local who speaks Mandarin, and having a Chinese-speaking guide to introduce the attractions is a great bonus! I was initially worried about the fast-paced driving from the negative reviews, and while it is indeed fast, it's still much better than the crazy drivers on Taipei buses. The only downside is that the stops at each station can't be too long 😢. If you want to spend a whole day taking photos, it's best to allocate a full day to Chiang Rai or stay there for three days and two nights. The entire team was incredibly professional. Since the tour guide could only be contacted via WeChat, international mobile phone, and domestic mobile phone, I was worried about not being able to reach them before departure. Fortunately, I was able to get a response whenever I left a message on KKDay. Even after the trip ended, when I left some belongings on the bus, I was able to get a quick reply the next day when I left a message on KKDay… The driver also helped return the lost items after his trip! This whole process was incredibly touching and reassuring, suggesting a very cohesive and reliable team behind the scenes! 5-star recommendation!
Since the travel time was long and we had a flight coming up after the tour, we booked a private tour so we could relax. It was just us and the driver (no guide), and we exchanged contact information beforehand using a communication tool. This made it easy to communicate after the tour. It was also helpful that the driver was able to tell us the highlights of each sightseeing spot, using the translation function on his phone. We also went to a long-neck village, which was great.
I'm very grateful to the driver for his thoughtful commentary on the sights along the way and for always being punctual at the right time and place each month. It was a very pleasant trip, and I'm very thankful.
