Flight times can be adjusted according to the weather, and all equipment is provided for us, including backpacks and sunglasses that can be lent out. The guide is very professional and leads the way, allowing us to explore different glacial terrains. It was definitely worth it.

Mt Cook year round climate
Spring (September – November): Average -3.3°C to 1.0°C. Temperatures gradually rise but remain severely cold. September is the month with relatively more rainfall throughout the year (though total amount is still low). Weather changes rapidly, high-altitude areas still have snow cover, and the air is dry. Recommended activities: Alpine trekking (requires professional equipment and experience), glacier viewing, photography. Suggested attire: Multi-layered warm clothing, waterproof and windproof jacket, warm hat, gloves, scarf, sturdy waterproof hiking boots.
Summer (December – February): Average 3.9°C to 5.9°C. Temperatures are highest throughout the year but still low. Very little rainfall, mostly clear and dry weather. UV radiation is strong, with large day-night temperature differences. Recommended activities: Hiking (multiple trail options), glacier hiking, scenic flights, stargazing. Suggested attire: Warm base layers, waterproof and windproof jacket, trousers, sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen), hiking shoes.
Autumn (March – May): Average -2.5°C to 1.9°C. Temperatures drop rapidly, ushering in the eve of severe winter. Weather is dry, with potential for clear but cold days. Snowfall may begin in May. Recommended activities: Short hikes, admiring the first signs of snow on the mountains, photography. Suggested attire: Thick warm jacket, sweater, trousers, waterproof warm shoes, hat, gloves.
Winter (June – August): Average -3.7°C to -2.8°C. Extremely severe cold, temperatures often below freezing. Most precipitation is snow, creating a silvery-white world.
