We went with our family, including our two-year-old and newborn. Because we went on a weekday and the zoo is far from the parking lot, we expected it to feel quiet and run-down upon arrival, but once inside, it was very child-friendly, even though it was a bit old. Everything was just right. [Good Points] - A bus runs to the zoo entrance every 15 minutes. - Aprica strollers are available for rent for 300 yen. - The animals are closer than at other zoos, making it easier for children to find them and enjoy themselves. - Being able to go everywhere with a stroller was great, as we didn't have to leave valuables behind. I was impressed that we could bring a stroller into the kangaroo enclosure. - There was a children's play area where we could see ponies, sheep, and goats. They were friendly and would come over to where the children were and peek out from the fence, which excited the kids. They didn't bite, so we could watch them with peace of mind. - Rest areas (with nursing rooms) were provided regularly, so we didn't have to worry about fussy children. It was cold that day, but the rest area was nice and warm, making it a great place to stay warm. It's just the right size, allowing you to explore in 3.5 hours, including snack breaks, diaper changes, and breastfeeding. It's a great size for families with children. Although we didn't use it this time, there are play equipment, so even if your child gets bored, you can switch things up and let them play. [Points that could be improved:] The area is pretty old, so I hope it gets cleaned up little by little. On weekdays, you have to walk from the bus to the ticket office, so it might take a while for toddlers. The directions from the parking lot to the Koala Bus stop were confusing, and I couldn't figure out where to park my bus closest to the bus stop, so I ended up moving it later. It was hard to tell the difference between the shop and the rest area, so maybe they were selling merchandise there later. It all looked like a rest area, after all. Overall, I was very satisfied, and I'd like to come again! It's in the same group as Zoorasia, so you can see okapis here too (I've heard that okapis used to be at Zoorasia), and the fact that you can get a free pass to both zoos for 2,000 yen a year was really appealing! 500 yen for adults is a bargain ^^
I decided to stay here because there was a concert next door the next day. Actually, it wasn't too crowded. There were even lounge chairs in the rest area. If you're lucky, you might see oil tankers delivering hot spring water, which is really cool. However, be aware that the food here is quite expensive, and there's a 500 yen seating fee. But the food is good. It happened to be snowing in Yokohama the day I went, and because it's outdoors, it was really cold outside, but it was still quite fun. I recommend staying overnight if there's a concert next door (there's an extra 2500 yen overnight fee, but it's really convenient since it's just across a bridge, and you can shower at night without worrying about smells).
The ride experience is comfortable, in the middle will also stop the rest stop for you to get off the car to rest buy food and drinks on the way because of a bit of traffic jam slightly delayed time, behind also feel the driver tried his best to rush so that you can catch the flight
It was around 11am on the New Year's Eve, but the elevators and observation deck were not too crowded, so we were able to enjoy the beautiful view smoothly. You can also see the Landmark Tower. The murals by artist Yamashita are impressive.
