How Far is Da Nang from Hoi An?
Even though Hoi An is a popular tourist destination, it’s not easily accessible from most cities other than Da Nang. Fortunately, Hoi An is approximately 30 kilometers from Da Nang, making it a convenient 45-minute to 1-hour drive.

How to Get from Da Nang to Hoi An

By Local Bus
Traveling by bus is the cheapest option to go to Hoi An. From the airport, take a taxi going to the Central Bus Station. Then, board the local bus #1 and get off at Hoi An Nguyen Tat Thanh Bus Station. Buses depart every 20 minutes, and travel time is approximately 1 hour to 1 hour and 30 minutes, depending on traffic. Upon arrival at the Hoi An Bus Station, you can opt to walk or take a taxi to go to your destination in Hoi An.
From Da Nang train station, you can take a cab going to Hoi An. Alternatively, you can take the Yellow Bus, which runs from 5:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
If you prefer a cheaper option to travel to Hoi An, a local bus is your best option. However if you have a few luggage with you, it might not be the most convenient option. Also, local buses usually aren’t air conditioned, so keep this in mind if you’re traveling during the summer season.

By Shuttle Bus
Choose a shuttle bus if you’re traveling in a group. You can arrange for a shuttle bus to pick you up from Da Nang International Airport and drop you off at your accommodation in Hoi An. In some cases, it might take longer for you to travel by shuttle bus since it’ll have multiple pick-ups and drop-offs along the way.

By Taxi

By Car or Motorbike Rental
For travelers who prefer flexibility, renting a bike or car is the ideal option. By renting your own vehicle, you can travel whenever you want to, or follow a DIY itinerary. Just surrender an ID and get it back after renting the vehicle. It can save you more money than taking a taxi, but choosing this option would mean you have to learn traffic rules and routes ahead of time.

- Make sure to bring enough cash (better if exact amount) if you want to travel by public transport.
- Download Google Maps if you plan to rent a motorbike or a car to travel from Da Nang to Hoi An. This will help you know the routes, travel time, and other helpful information to navigate the city.
- Be mindful of the departure time and first and last trips of the local buses. If you’re arriving late at the Da Nang airport, you might not be able to take the local bus anymore.
