Experience the Best of Jeollanam-do

Jeollanam-do, located in the southwestern part of South Korea, is a province that is filled with natural beauty, rich culture, and history. We’ll bring you through Sinan-gun, Mokpo, Suncheon and Yeosu within Jeollanam-do. 

 

How to get to Jeollanam-do

Getting to Jeollanam-do is not an issue especially since it’s well-connected with access via KTX. Alternatively, if you’d like to do on a private tour with charter service that departs from Busan where you can choose where you’d like to visit, you can find it here. 

 

 

 

Suncheon: Suncheonman Bay Garden and Wetland

The Suncheonman Bay Garden is one of the largest man-made gardens in the world spanning over 1.1 million m2 of land. The place is so HUGE you could spend days in it. You can now book a day tour from Busan to the garden

 

 

The garden features a variety of themed gardens, including a Korean traditional garden, a water garden, a rock garden, and a tropical garden. Visitors can enjoy walking along the garden’s paths and taking in the various plants, flowers, and water features.

The Suncheonman Bay Wetland is a natural wetland area that covers over 5.4 km2, and is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna. The wetland is an important habitat for migratory birds, including endangered species such as the Black-faced Spoonbill and the Hooded Crane. Visitors can take a walk on the boardwalks through the wetland, observing the different bird species and other wildlife.

In addition to the garden and wetland, the area also has a variety of other attractions, including a cultural center, a bamboo forest, and a cycling path. There are also several restaurants in the area where visitors can try local specialties.

 

Yeosu: Arte Museum

Yeosu Arte Museum is a media art exhibit situated in Yeosu City, featuring immersive artworks produced by the prominent digital design company d’strict. Renowned for their public media art “WAVE” exhibited at Coex, the exhibit revolves around the theme of “ETERNAL NATURE,” offering visitors a captivating sensory experience with its stunning visuals, alluring sounds, and exquisite aromas.

The Garden room was one of the largest rooms. One moment you could be admiring the artworks of Leonardo Da Vinci at a museum, the other, you are transported to space but with dolphins and manta rays. The Yeosu Arte Museum is a must-visit destination for anyone who loves art, and architecture, or simply wants to experience a tranquil and serene environment.

Yeosu: Parasailing

Embark on an exhilarating adventure in Yeosu, South Korea, as you soar through the sky while parasailing. Feel the rush of the wind and admire the breathtaking coastal views from a whole new perspective.

 

Sinan-gun: Tulip Festival

The Sinan Tulip Festival takes place every year from late March to early April and features over 1.5 million tulips in full bloom. The festival is held at Sinan-gun, a beautiful island that is surrounded by the crystal-clear waters of the South Sea. Visitors can take in the stunning scenery while strolling through the tulip fields and enjoying various activities, such as flower exhibitions, music performances, and cultural events. 

 

Sinan-gun: Horseback Riding

Visit Daegwang Beach, located adjacent to the Sinan Tulip Festival, for a unique horseback riding experience. Stretching across a remarkable 12km, Daegwang Beach is the longest beach in South Korea. It presents an incredible opportunity to capture stunning photographs while riding a horse along the vast shoreline.

 

Mokpo: Marine Cable Car

The Mokpo Cable Car offers visitors a unique way to take in the stunning views of the region. Crossing a length of 3.23km at a height of 155m, it is the longest and highest cable car in South Korea. The cable car runs from Yudalsan Mountain to Mokpo Harbor and provides panoramic views of the city, mountains, and sea. 

We highly recommend the Crystal Cabin, which has glass flooring, providing a 360-degree panoramic viewof course, it’s not for the faint of heart! 

At the top of the mountain, there is a viewing platform where visitors can take pictures and enjoy a cup of tea while overlooking the city and harbor.

Mokpo: Sihwa Alley

Sihwa Alley is a charming and picturesque alleyway located in the historic neighborhood of Mokpo in South Korea. It is a narrow and winding alley that stretches for about 150 meters and is lined with traditional Korean houses that are over a century old. Visitors can wander through the alley, admiring the old houses and taking in the local culture. There are also numerous small shops and cafes in the area, offering traditional Korean snacks and beverages.
