Taiwan Is Planning To Give Incentives To Foreign Travellers

On 23 February 2023, Taiwan’s premier Chen Chien-jen revealed a new tourism scheme with the aim of attracting foreign tourists to visit Taiwan.

The goal is to welcome at least six million tourists in 2023 and reach a target of 10 million tourists annually by 2025. To achieve this, a budget of NT$5.3B (approximately S$235M) has been allocated for promotional purposes.

How To Receive Payout

Taiwan’s Bureau Director-General, Chang Shi-chung, announced that the funds allocated for tourism promotion will not be given out at once. Instead, it will be distributed via various events throughout the year. Thus, it’s important to note that there is a possibility that not all international tourists will receive it.

If you’re one of the lucky individual tourists, you’ll receive an electronic ticketing card worth NT$5,000 (approximately S$220). This card will only be handed out in Taiwan, and can be used for food, accommodation, and other travel expenses.

In addition, tour groups from around the world can receive allowances of up to NT$20,000 (approximately S$880), with up to 90,000 groups eligible for the grant.

Despite the announcement, the Taiwanese government has not yet provided a definite start date or application details for this scheme.
