29Rooms – First Time Ever in Asia!
Happening for the first time in Asia beyond the USA, 29Rooms Singapore is an art and culture extravaganza. It is hosted by Refinery29, a platform for young creatives, that is part of VICE Media Group. Experience thought-provoking art installations, performances and workshops in 29 thematic spaces.
Since its successful New York debut in 2015 and other U.S. editions, 29Rooms has reached over 300 million people. The New York Times has proclaimed 29Rooms as “The creative playground for the Instagram generation”.
Furthermore, popular artists, celebrities and musicians have taken part in expressing themselves in the past 29Rooms editions. Musicians Lizzo and Solange Knowles, celebrities Margot Robbie and RuPaul, and cultural icons Rupi Kaur and Jason Wu are some of the notable collabs.
29Rooms Singapore – Lost and Found
For the first time in 29Rooms’ history, a new concept will be unveiled – the XRoom. Here, expect renowned DJs, music acts, artists and even F&B concepts.

The theme of 29Rooms Singapore is Lost and Found. Likewise, you’ll ultimately rediscover yourself while immersing yourself in the interactive collaborations by both local and international artists.
Start your trip into 29Rooms with the Forest Theatre, a multi-sensory experience that mimics a forest, complete with mist, backlit trees and an interplay of lights and sounds. Reflect on your life with the 29 Questions that will make you stop and think.
Next, wind down and get cosy in Insomnia, a room that is designed to relax your mind and actually get some shut-eye. There’re comfy pillows and even a revolving mobile of giant sheep hanging in the air.
Don’t you feel like life is a Merry Go Round at times? From the time we wake up, make the commute to an 8-hour workday, to the mindless scrolling on social media before bed. You’ll be shown six sections, each reflecting the different times of the day. Will you continue to stay on the carousel?
At the start of each year, we tend to make resolutions for ourselves to achieve throughout the year. In the same way, print your goals onto a t-shirt at Flag Your Goals. You can collect the shirt as motivation for you to push forward.
Make a mess, and form new connections
We live in a stressful society. Hence, one of the rooms, Make A Mess, encourages you to forget all the rules and scribble on an all-white living room. It’s a collaborative art space where people of all ages can literally make a mess in the name of art.
Lastly, in a similar fashion to the other 29Rooms, break through personal boundaries at Nice To Meet You, a café unlike no other. Over here, you’ll need participation from multiple persons in order to work the furniture. Some of these unique installations include a couple’s chair see-saw and a five-person table balanced on a set of springs.

It’s a must to experience this creative playground even if you’re not part of the arts scene, as you’ll enter and leave with a fresh perspective on life.
