As one of the largest urban centers in Asia, South Korea’s capital has a lot to offer — with its weave of old and new, tradition and technology, and history and pop culture. Cover all these bases and you’ve got the perfect trip to Seoul.

Here’s the ultimate 3D2N Seoul itinerary that every traveler needs.

  • Gyeongbokgung Palace & National Palace Museum of Korea
  • Bukchon Hanok Village & Samcheongdong
  • Changdeokgung Palace
  • Gwangjang Market
  • Deoksugung Palace
  • Namdaemun Market

Dedicate your first day to getting to know the glorious past of South Korea’s capital, back when royal palaces were the center of activity. Immerse yourself deeper in tradition by traversing the alleys of traditional neighborhoods and markets.

Start your day at the largest and most prominent Gyeongbokgung Palace, where the National Palace Museum of Korea is also located. You can choose to have a hanbok dress experience as you explore the palace grounds.

Then, have tea at a traditional teahouse in Bukchon Hanok Village and proceed to have your brunch at the nearby hip neighborhood of Samcheong-dong.

Afterward, head to another magnificent palace, Changdeokgung, renowned for its secret garden. Nearby is Gwangjang Market, another must-visit for delicious street food.

Before the day ends, drop by Deoksugung Palace before blending with locals at Namdaemun Market for dinner.

On your second day, it’s time to celebrate the vibrance of modern Seoul through modern attractions that match the times and let you experience the city’s exciting energy.

Some travelers have their priority — you may be in for Hallyu attractions, like a tour of K-drama filming locations or K-pop agencies. Or, you may seek the thrill of amusement rides or the nightlife buzz.

For K-drama fans, filming location staples are all over Seoul. Meanwhile, most Hallyu attractions and K-pop agencies are easily found in Gangnam.

For amusement, Lotte World and Everland (a short trip out of Seoul) are two must-visit places.

You can allot at least half a day for your chosen theme, but be sure to save time for a visit to N Seoul Tower for its panoramic views of Seoul. Then, head to Itaewon for a K-BBQ dinner and nightlife.

DAY 3: Eat, Shop, & Snap Away

As if the previous days haven’t been lavish — your third and final day in Seoul should be for splurging on things you can only find in Seoul, pigging out at local restaurants, and getting high on caffeine at Instagrammable cafes.

Start your day in Insadong where there are lots of charming little shops and cafes. You can have your breakfast/brunch at Imun Seolnongtang, South Korea’s oldest restaurant, or try temple food at Sanchon.

Then, head to nearby Myeongdong for fashion, cosmetics, and K-pop souvenirs. Or, go to Dongdaemun Design Plaza for high-end shopping of luxury goods and electronics.

For more shopping, go to Hongdae where young people flock for cheap and trendy fashion items. Nearby, you can find a lot of Insta-perfect cafes in Yeonnamdong, where you can while away the rest of the day.
