‘Our Blues’ Filming Sites On Jeju Island

Featuring a star-studded cast composed of Shin Min-ah, Lee Byung-hun, Kim Woo-bin, and Han Ji-min, among others — Our Blues basked in high viewership as soon as it started. Much like Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha where Shin Min-ah also starred, the latest K-drama has shone the light on yet another beautiful countryside setting far from the South Korean capital.

Jeju Island provided a quaint countryside setting that contrasted the bittersweet life and love story of each character. And it has been memorable. After watching Our Blues, it’s time to immerse yourself deeper into the drama by visiting these filming sites in Jeju.

Geumneung Beach/Pier

Geumneung is one of the main filming locations of Our Blues in Jeju, portrayed as a bustling fishing village where most of the characters’ livelihoods are centered.

Geumneung Beach features a rocky beach with fine golden sand, overlooking Biyangdo island. At the pier nearby, you can enjoy the atmosphere of a modest fishing folk community and enjoy fresh seafood.

Biyangdo Island

Biyangdo island is an eye-catching landmark off the coast of Hallim, an everpresent sight from Geumneung Pier. In Our Blues, the island provides a beautiful backdrop as Lee Yeong-ok (Han Ji-min) along with other haenyeo or female divers catch seafood. It is also where Lee Dong-seok (Lee Byung-hun) drives his truck and sets up shop.

On the island, you can enjoy hiking and photography as you explore its breathtaking natural attractions including Biyangbong Peak and various rock formations.

Sinchang Windmill Coastal Road

The Sinchang windmills are one of the first prominent sights we’ve seen in Our Blues, featured as Lee Yeong-ok drove the elderly haenyeos across the coast of western Jeju. The windmills can even be seen from Geumneung Pier.

Spanning across 6 km., Sinchang Windmill Coastal Road is a great walking course for sightseeing, with an observation deck where you can wait for the sunset and just revel in the colorful scenery.

Goseong 5-Day Market

Want to experience mingling with charismatic fish and vegetable vendors as in Our Blues? Goseong 5-Day Market is where the show’s characters station themselves to showcase their products — such as Lee Yeong-ok’s seafood and Hyeon Chun-hui (Go Doo-shim) and Kang Ok-dong’s (Kim Hye-ja) fresh produce.

Goseong 5-Day market opens every 4th, 9th, 14th, 19th, 24th, and 29th day of the month. It’s just a short distance from the famous Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak

Location: Goseong-ri, Seongsan-eup, Seogwipo-si, Jeju-do

Gapado Island

Another especially memorable place is Gapado, where Lee Yeong-ok (Han Ji-min) and Park Jeong-jun (Kim Woo-bin) swooned us with their romantic date featuring the picturesque scenery of the small island.

Gapado island is, in fact, a popular destination for couples, especially in spring when the green barley festival is held. It has a walking course around the island that only takes about two hours, and you can easily spot Songaksan and Sanbangsan on the Seogwipo skyline.

Location: Seogwipo-si, Jeju-do (via Moseulpo Port)

Pacific Rim Peace Park

A place of good old times — this beachside park is where we’ve seen Choi Han-su (Cha Seung-won), Jung Eun-hui (Lee Jung-eun), and their friends spend time in their teenage years.

Pacific Rim Peace Park is a friendship park on a remote coastal location in Seogwipo that promotes peace and goodwill among communities in the Pacific Rim region. It’s a peaceful and solitary place to enjoy views of the ocean as well as Songaksan from a distance.

Location: Sangmo-ri, Daejeong-eup, Seogwipo-si, Jeju-do

Woljeongri Beach

via tvN / Visit Jeju

Featuring the show’s youngest love birds—Woljeongri Beach is the place where Bang Yeong-ju (Roh Yoon-seo) and Jung Hyeon (Bae Hyun-sung) have made a lot of memories they’re going to cherish forever.

The beach is backdropped by the scenery of windmills, and its sand is dotted with volcanic rocks as well as kayaks and occasional picnic mats.

Location: Woljeong-ri, Gujwa-eup, Jeju-si, Jeju-do

Mt. Halla (Hallasan)

Towards the end of the drama, Dong-seok and his mother embark on a cathartic detour as they return to Jeju-do after an emotional trip in Mokpo. One of their stops was Mt. Halla, locally known as Hallasan, a shield volcano, which his mother always dreamed to climb to see the crater’s lake frozen in the winter. Not to give away any spoilers, but this mother-and-son journey (and everything else that followed) was heart-wrenching!

Hike up Mt. Halla when you take this tour:
