Non-essential Outbound Travel From The Philippines To Be Allowed Starting 21 October

Filipinos will soon be able to take non-essential international trips according to presidential spokesperson Harry Roque.

The ban on non-essential outbound travel will be lifted on October 21 Roque announced on Friday, 16 October.

The IATF ruled that Filipinos may be allowed to travel abroad, but will be subject to the submission of necessary documents, which includes confirmed roundtrip tickets as well as adequate travel and health insurance, especially for tourist visa holders.

Travelers must also present a declaration acknowledging the risks in traveling and are required to have a negative antigen test result 24 hours before their departure. Returning travelers are also expected to follow the COVID-19 guidelines after their trip.

This news comes shortly after the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) issued a memorandum circular allowing travel agencies, tour operators, reservation services, and related activities to resume operations at 50% capacity under the general community quarantine (GCQ) and 100% under the modified general community quarantine (MGCQ). 

Moreover, the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) has eased the quarantine’s age restrictions, now allowing Filipinos aged 15 to 65 to go out.
