El Nido’s Hidden Beach Hailed Among “Best Beaches” In The World

Palawan continues to make headlines in the travel arena after being named as one of “the most beautiful islands in the world” in Condé Nast Traveller’s Readers’ Choice Awards last year. This time, the same travel magazine listed El Nido’s Hidden Beach at Palawan among their top 30 “best beaches” in the world in a special feature published on 21 June.

Ranking 20th, the once-elusive beach is described by the author, award-winning travel journalist Lizzie Pook, as a place “surrounded by imposing limestone cliffs and with startlingly bone-white sand.”

The Hidden Beach  El Nido got its name for it is seemingly concealed, with visitors having to climb a narrow keyhole-like opening just to access it.

Meanwhile, the Philippines’ Department of Tourism is overjoyed with the inclusion of the Hidden Beach in Palawan on Condé Nast Traveller’s list. In a statement released yesterday, 22 June, tourism secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat expressed how thrilled she was over Palawan’s latest global recognition.

“While the world waits for international travel to resume, citations such as these will greatly help keep The Philippines in the bucket lists of travelers everywhere,” she said.

El Nido is among Palawan’s biggest draws along with Coron and Puerto Princesa, with its alluring lagoons and towering jungle-laden limestone cliffs.
