Boracay Has Finally Reopened—But Only To Locals Of Western Visayas For Now

Boracay Island is ready to welcome visitors to its world-famous white-sand beaches once again!

This good news comes after the Boracay Inter-agency Task Force (BIATF) approved last Thursday Aklan’s recommendation for Boracay Island reopen and accept tourists from Western Visayas beginning 16 June.

That means locals from Negros Occidental, Guimaras, Iloilo, Antique, Aklan, and Capiz are free to visit the island starting today!

With Boracay as one of the areas in the Philippines that has remained COVID-19-free for more than a month already, safety measures are to be strictly enforced to ensure that visitors and locals alike will remain healthy.

Under the new normal, Boracay is putting an emphasis on “no contact” movements and activities. Establishments, including restaurants and hotels, are also mandated to impose stringent rules for social distancing.

Visitors are subject to temperature checks upon arrival and must wear masks at all times while on the island. And following the Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ) guidelines, those below 21 years old and above 60 years old will not be allowed to enter the island.
