What You Should Know About The 2019 World Music Festival In Taipei

Have you heard about the World Music Festival @ Taiwan?

It is the country’s first large-scale international music festival that started in 2016. Now in its fourth year, the annual festival features musicians from all over the world, including performers from India, Mexico, and Latvia!

This year, the event will be held at the Dajia Riverside Park from October 18 to October 20 in the city of Taipei. The music festival is expected to attract about 70,000 attendees from around the world as it will feature 11 award-winning Taiwanese performers and eight international musicians.

So what else do you need to know about the World Music Festival?

 

 

The Venue

The festival venue at the Taipei Dajia Riverside Park will be open from 1 PM to 10 PM daily. A bracelet pass will be provided at the entrance service area. You should take good care of this bracelet because once you lose it, you will have to purchase another one.

You are encouraged to wear global or exotic-style clothing to create a global village atmosphere.

Due to limited space, camping services will not be provided.

Transportation

You will find it difficult to park near the venue, so you have to take the free shuttle buses or other forms of public transport. 

Free shuttle buses. They will be available at the No. 2 exit at the Xingtian Temple MRT (Taipei Metro) station and the festival venue and will leave every 15 to 20 minutes between 11 AM to 10:30 PM.

Via public bus. If you want to experience the public transportation in Taipei, you may either take the Citizen Mini Bus No. 9 or Red No. 34 bus (weekend only) to Dike Gate No. 8 (just a one-minute walk from there to the venue) or take bus No. 72 or 222 to Dajia Elementary School (5-minute walk).

Via MRT. If you’re in the mood for some train commute, you have several options. You can take the Zhonghe-Xinlu (Orange) Line, get off at the Xingtian Temple station, then take the WMF @ Taiwan shuttle bus at the No. 2 exit or take the No. 72 or 222 to Dajia Elementary School.

You can also take Wenhu Line (Brown), get off at Dazhi, then take bus No. 72 or 222 to Dajia Elementary School. If you take the Tamsui-Xinyi (Red) Line, you should get off at Yuanshan then take Red No. 34 bus to Dike Gate No. 8.

Food

It is highly encouraged that you bring your own dishes and utensils. You will surely enjoy the great food available at the bazaar, but be a responsible eater and bring your own food containers and utensils to help lessen the trash. You might even find some vendors giving discounts to those bringing their own containers.

Going for a picnic is possible, although cooking at the venue is strictly prohibited.

In Case Of Emergency

The event organizer will announce the emergency procedure in the event of a natural disaster or any other uncontrollable factor that may lead to the cancellation of the festival.

What Not To Do At The Festival

Do not bring pets. Bringing pets is prohibited and no pet care services or facilities will be available at the venue.

Strictly no drones. Since the Dajia Riverside Park is a flight path, you shouldn’t bring drones and other devices that could interfere with aircraft.

No wheeled vehicles. Aside from baby strollers and wheelchairs, you are not allowed to bring any other form of wheeled vehicles, such as bikes, rollerblades, or scooters.

Firecrackers are prohibited. You should not bring any form of explosives and other objects that are considered dangerous to the venue.

Bad behavior. Smoking, gambling, drunken obnoxiousness, urinating/defecating outside of restrooms, and setting up unregistered vendor stalls are prohibited.
