Bohol’s Five Best Beaches

Like most islands in the Philippines, Bohol in the Central Visayas region seems to have everything that any tourist would love to see and experience. It has unique attractions like the Chocolate Hills, beautiful churches, rich flora and fauna, and crystal clear waters. These offerings have made Bohol worth checking out when one is traveling to the Philippines.

If you’re coming to Bohol for its beaches, then you will not be disappointed as it has various spots that beach bums will definitely love. Whether you came to swim, snorkel, dive, or just laze by the shore, Bohol’s best beaches have it all:

Alona Beach

Probably one of the most recognizable and most popular because of its long stretch of powdery white sand flanked by rocky cliffs, Alona Beach in Panglao is a top favorite among frequent visitors. Compared to its neighbors, Alona Beach Bohol is the most developed, with restaurants and luxury resorts being just a few steps away from the shore. Amidst the development, it has remained clean and is still a perfect spot for snorkeling, kayaking, and scuba diving.

Dumaluan Beach

Also located in Panglao island, Dumaluan Beach is frequently compared to nearby Alona Beach due to their similar features. In contrast to that of Alona Beach, the waters in Dumaluan are calmer and lower, thus preferred by families with small children. Since it is less developed as opposed to Alona, there is more space here for picnics or camping, and the public area is wider and can occupy more people. For those who want to avoid the crowd, you may check-in some private resorts for a day trip or overnight stay.

Bagobo Beach

Another Panglao gem, Bagobo Beach in Brgy. Libaong also has fine white sand and crystal clear waters. Divers frequent this place because it faces Arco Point, a popular diving spot that serves as a gateway to a myriad of marine life that will wow any visitor. Those who aren’t into scuba diving will still enjoy their stay here as there are coconut trees that provide shade along the shore.

Pamilacan Island

A 15 to 20-minute boat ride from Alona Beach will bring you to the breathtakingly beautiful Pamilacan island. Nestled in the heart of the Bohol Sea, this island paradise is a popular spot for dolphin and whale watching. While on the island, you can do some snorkeling as the area is teeming with marine life. You can also walk around and take photos, but make sure to apply some sunblock as it can get very hot.

If you are traveling as a couple and looking for an amazing time together, make sure to have at least a day trip to Pamilacan Island. There are also resorts if you opt to stay for a night or two.

Quinale Beach

With three kilometers of fine white sand beaches, turquoise waters, and stunning sunset views, Quinale Beach in Anda, Bohol is a close competition to Boracay island. Since there aren’t any rock formations or cliffs around, you are greeted with endless views of the sea and the sand, making it the perfect location for romantic sunset moments. Quinale Beach should be on top of your list if you’re looking for some peace and quiet in Bohol.
