Airport Secrets: Hong Kong International Airport

With over a thousand daily flights connecting to over 220 destinations, the Hong Kong International Airport is one of the busiest airports in the worldwide. But whether you’re there to explore Hong Kong, or spending a long layover, check out its ‘secret’ facilities that are sure to make your airport stay a lot more bearable.

1. Catch a movie at the IMAX Theatre

See the latest movie releases in Hong Kong’s biggest IMAX screen. The cinema boasts a 350-seat hall and screens movies in both 2D and 3D.

2. Play Golf

Squeeze in a few swings at the GreenLive AIR indoor golf simulator at Terminal 2. You can play a 9-hole or 18-hole game while waiting for your flight. If you’ve got a longer layover, you can opt to get out of the airport and head to the Sky City Nine Eagles Golf Course. You can rent equipment, and take an easy 5-minute shuttle bus from Terminal 2, Gate 18 to the course.

3. Take the kids on a field trip

If you’re traveling with kids, you’ll know how antsy and restless they can get  when they’re bored. Keep them entertained at the Dream Come True Education Park at Terminal 2. Here, they get to wear corporate costumes, meet other kids, and ‘play adults’ at an interactive exhibit where they can experience real life working situations.

4. Discover Chinese culture

If you don’t have time to leave the airport, you can get your cultural fix by exploring a number of its rotating exhibits. There are a number interactive activities that introduce foreigners to Chinese culture; they’re open to anyone and free. Some of the popular ones are tea-making demonstrations and ceremonies and Chinese Medicinal Workshops.
