The Northern Lights are one of the world’s most spectacular natural phenomena, and this evening tour gives you the opportunity to experience them for yourself. Your adventure begins with pickup from your Fairbanks hotel between 4:00 and 5:00 PM before traveling approximately 60 miles (100 km) to Chena Hot Springs Resort.

Upon arrival, visit the famous Aurora Ice Museum, a unique attraction built entirely from ice. Inside, admire hand-carved ice sculptures, chandeliers, and even a full ice bar.

At 8:00 PM, relax in the soothing outdoor hot springs surrounded by Alaska’s winter scenery. Chena Hot Springs Resort is also known for its innovative use of geothermal energy and ongoing alternative energy projects in partnership with the University of Alaska Fairbanks, including the production and use of hydrogen and vegetable oil for fuel. Spend at least two hours soaking in the natural mineral waters and enjoying the peaceful atmosphere of the resort.

Around midnight, begin watching the sky for the Aurora Borealis. This natural phenomenon occurs when charged particles collide with atoms high in Earth’s atmosphere, creating brilliant waves of dancing color across the sky that can be bright enough to read a newspaper by.

Around 2:00 AM, depart for Fairbanks, arriving back at your hotel between 3:00 and 4:00 AM after an unforgettable Alaskan night.
