Product Info

Spend an unforgettable night camping in Monument Valley during an overnight stay in a traditional Navajo Hogan. Hogans are sacred, traditional structures built using natural desert materials such as juniper logs, juniper bark for insulation, and red desert earth, creating a naturally cool space in summer and warmth during colder nights. This Hogan is set aside specifically for cultural and ceremonial experiences rather than modern living quarters, offering guests an authentic and respectful introduction to Navajo traditions.

Your experience begins with an evening guided backcountry tour of Monument Valley, led by a local Navajo guide with exclusive access to restricted areas. As the sun lowers, you’ll travel deeper into the landscape before arriving at a private picnic and camping area. Here, enjoy a traditional Navajo vegetarian taco dinner with assorted drinks, followed by cultural entertainment including Native American singing, Native American dancing, and traditional storytelling & cultural insights that is shared around the campfire. These are seasonal Navajo folk tales that offer insight into history, beliefs, and the deep connection between the land and the people.

As night falls, take in Monument Valley’s dark skies, known for exceptional stargazing far from city lights. You’ll then settle in for the night inside the Hogan at a primitive but thoughtfully prepared campsite, equipped with sleeping bags, sleeping mats, lantern, table, folding chair, private outhouse facility, wash pans, water, soap, and disposable towels/toilet paper/facial tissue. Please note there are no shower facilities, allowing the area to remain undisturbed and true to its natural setting.

Wake early to experience the quiet beauty of the desert morning with a guided sunrise viewing tour, as the iconic buttes and mesas glow in the first light of day. We provide a pre-packed chilled continental breakfast with fruit, pastries, cereal, milk, and juice--perfect for a simple and refreshing start to your morning. No hot food are included. This concludes your overnight Monument Valley experience as your Navajo Tour Guide takes you back to your starting point.

This overnight Hogan tour offers a rare opportunity to explore Monument Valley after dark, connect with Navajo culture, and experience the land in a way few visitors ever do.
