Experience one of Cape Town’s most exciting marine adventures with this unforgettable half-day shark cage diving excursion in the spectacular waters of False Bay. Operated by the award-winning Shark Explorers and coordinated throughout the day by African Eagle Day Tours, this experience combines convenience, safety, and close encounters with marine wildlife.
Your day begins with a comfortable hotel pickup in Cape Town and transfer to the dive centre in Simon’s Town, just minutes from the famous Boulders Beach. On arrival, you will complete the necessary paperwork, meet the expert crew, and receive a detailed briefing before boarding the boat.
You will then head out into the clear waters of False Bay, enjoying the coastal scenery along the way. Once at the dive site, the crew will share insights about shark behaviour, conservation efforts, and what to expect during your cage dive.
When the cage is lowered into the water, the real excitement begins. The cage comfortably accommodates up to five divers (maximum six), providing good visibility and personal space. Using the breath-hold diving system, you can experience the moment of coming face-to-face with powerful and majestic sharks in their natural environment.
Throughout the experience, the highly trained crew monitors shark activity from the boat, guiding divers to ensure the best views and photos. Even when you are not in the cage, you can still observe the sharks from the deck.
For certified divers, a Hookah scuba system is available on request when visibility exceeds six metres. This allows you to stay underwater longer and follow the movements of the sharks around the cage and boat for a more immersive experience.
You will spend approximately 3 to 4 hours at the site, cage diving and observing sharks, before returning to Simon’s Town harbour. Relax on the journey back and share your experiences with fellow participants.
