1-day tour of Évora and Setúbal｜Portugal

It's not hard to see why Évora was already important in Roman times. Chosen in the 15th century by the kings of Portugal as a palace, Évora was an important place of political and spiritual power, which undoubtedly contributed to its development, as well as to the cultural importance it had in the following centuries.

Inside the city, you can visit one of its most famous landmarks - the Chapel of Bones, built in the 17th century. Praça do Giraldo, now bustling with terraces and constant setbacks, is a tribute to Geraldo Geraldes for conquering Évora from the Moors in 1167. From the center, we head towards the Roman Temple, the city's icon, one of the largest and best-preserved Roman temples in the entire Iberian Peninsula, having been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1986.

To enjoy the best the region has to offer, there's nothing better than visiting one of Portugal's oldest and most renowned wineries, at the Cartuxa Monastery, built between 1587 and 1598. Adega da Cartuxa - Quinta de Valbom is now one of the training centers for wines produced by the Eugénio de Almeida Foundation.
