Nagoya Port "Garden Pier" is the birthplace of Nagoya Port, which opened in 1907 (Meiji 40). It was built by reclaiming an iron pier, cargo ships, and a wharf that was full of people loading and unloading goods. As the subway station name is "Nagoya Port", the name "Garden Pier" is known as a synonym for Nagoya Port. Today, it is a well-known “Minato” that includes the aquarium, observatory, oceanographic museum, and Antarctic observation ship. The Port of Nagoya Public Aquarium is Japan's largest aquarium located in Minato, Nagoya. There are 50,000 creatures of 500 species in the Aquarium, including killer whales, emperor penguins, sea turtles, sharks, garden eels, and jellyfish. Please fully enjoy the underwater world that reproduces the sea around Japan, the world of the deep sea, and the sea of each country. Various sea creatures welcome your visit.
