- SAIL Amsterdam -
SAIL Amsterdam is the Netherlands’ largest free maritime event, held every five years since its inception in 1975 to celebrate Amsterdam’s 700th anniversary. Over time, it has grown into a major international festival, attracting tall ships and visitors from around the world to the city’s waterfront for a unique celebration of nautical heritage and connection.
In 2025, SAIL Amsterdam marks a special triple anniversary: the 750th birthday of Amsterdam, the 50th anniversary of SAIL, and the 10th edition of this iconic event. After a pandemic-related delay, this milestone celebration will bring together people globally to experience a vibrant festival on water and shore, showcasing the Netherlands’ rich maritime culture and inspiring a shared commitment to the future of our waters.
