- Store Introduction - Located just 2 minutes from Okachimachi Station, this is a specialty eel store that handles Nito-ryu eels. The store was originally founded in the Edo period (1837) and is still run by an eel wholesaler.We use domestic eels procured through the eel wholesaler's own route. We mainly handle live eels of "two swords" of about 225g and about 400g (extra large eels), and serve them as "boneless eels" that are removed by hand one by one by our craftsmen. As far as I know, we are the only restaurant in Ueno that serves "boneless eels". The extra large eels used in the eel wholesaler's special lunch are rare and hard to obtain, and it is very difficult to heat and steam them properly, but we use our "unique heating" and "unique steaming" method to heat them and serve them hot, plump and tender.
The "Unagi Wholesaler's Special Lunch" is available in limited quantities. It is a hearty meal at a reasonable price. However, because unagi is a rare species, the lunch may be sold out if the unagi is not in stock.
We use domestically-produced eels procured through a route that only an eel wholesaler can provide. They are mainly from Kagoshima Prefecture, Miyazaki Prefecture, Shimanto Prefecture, Kochi Prefecture, Aichi Prefecture, and Shizuoka Prefecture. We carefully select high-quality eels that are firm and rich in fat. Please enjoy our large, thick pieces of eel. We also offer skewers that can only be found at an eel restaurant. Please enjoy.
At our restaurant, we serve eels that have been deboned by our craftsmen, one by one, by hand. They are easy to eat, so even children can enjoy them. However, please be careful when eating as there may be small bones remaining.
We offer shochu that goes perfectly with eel, carefully selected by an eel wholesaler. We recommend the authentic barley shochu "Yume Danshaku" and the authentic potato shochu "Kurajuro." We also stock Hiroshima-produced sake, Suishin. Please enjoy the alcohol that goes well with the skewers.
