[Kumano Grand Fireworks Festival]

With Onigajo in Yoshino-Kumano National Park as its backdrop, this spectacular fireworks display unfolds out over the vast ocean, becoming the biggest summer attraction in the Kumano region. Approximately 10,000 fireworks beautifully illuminate the World Heritage site. Highlights include the sea explosions where ignited fireworks are thrown one after another from two boats speeding at full speed, the large-scale displays utilizing the rocky cliffs and caves of Onigajo, and the three-foot diameter sea explosions that spread across the Kumano Sea. In addition to the sound of the fireworks themselves exploding and the resulting blast, the reflections off the rocks and the echoes from the caves add to the powerful spectacle.

  • The Kumano Grand Fireworks Festival venue is about a 30-45 minute walk (approximately 2 km) from the parking lot. Please wear comfortable shoes and clothing on the day of your trip.

  • We may inform you of the cancellation once you arrive at the meeting place. In this case, you will be responsible for your own transportation costs to the meeting place.

  • If the fireworks display is canceled due to bad weather before the bus departs on the day of the tour, the tour will be canceled and a portion of the tour price will be refunded*. Please note that the decision to cancel the fireworks display will be made on the day of the tour. If the fireworks display is canceled after the tour has departed, we may return to the departure point.

  • The event will be held even in light rain, but umbrellas are not permitted in the spectator area, so please bring a raincoat if rain is expected.
