There were staff members who spoke Chinese and provided friendly explanations, which prevented me from getting lost due to the numerous construction sites, even though I hadn't been to Sapporo for over two years.
Our driver, Mr. Kawamura, was professional and friendly. Despite the language barrier, he tried his best to help us understand using a translator. He also took the initiative to take photos for us and prepared umbrellas for us when it rained. When we arrived at Oirase Gorge, he even got out of the car and took us to see the waterfall. On the way back, it suddenly snowed and some roads were even closed, but he still managed to safely deliver us to the hotel with his steady driving skills. It was a very pleasant and satisfying experience.
There is a dedicated bus line from Hakodate Station to the Hakodate-Tsugaru Strait Ferry Terminal, which is very convenient. The ship is spacious, and you can lie down on the floor tatami in the standard cabin. The journey takes 3.5 hours to reach Aomori Port, which is a more unique travel experience than taking the Shinkansen.
Our driver, Kudo, was very friendly. He chatted with us along the way, introducing Aomori and asking how our experiences had been over the past few days.
The itinerary was well-planned, and the driver was very polite. Although he spoke Japanese, communication was no problem using a translation device. The scenery along the way was beautiful, and joining a KKday tour is a great option if you don't have a car!
