Leave Tashkent behind for a day and discover Shymkent, the third-largest city in Kazakhstan and the cultural heart of the country's south. This private journey offers a glimpse into the region's rich heritage, from traditional customs and nomadic roots to the vibrant life of a modern city.
The journey begins with pickup at the hotel or another agreed location in Tashkent. An Uzbek driver takes guests to the Kazakhstan–Uzbekistan border, where the border is crossed independently on foot. Drivers on both sides provide assistance throughout the process.
After entering Kazakhstan, a Kazakh driver will meet guests with a Lara Q sign and take them to Shymkent, where a licensed local guide will join the journey. Travel continues comfortably by private air-conditioned vehicle.
The first stop is the Kazakh Traditions Center, offering an introduction to Kazakh customs, crafts and cultural heritage. Traditional games such as Asyk Atu and Bes Tas (Five Stones) can also be introduced here.
The route continues to Seiitzhan Qari Yeszhanuly Mosque, with an opportunity to admire its architecture and learn more about contemporary religious and cultural life.
Next comes the Monument to Baidibek Bi, one of Shymkent's most scenic viewpoints, with beautiful panoramic views across the city and its surroundings.
At Abay Park and the Alley of Glory, memorials reflect important events and periods of Kazakhstan's history during the Soviet era. A Soviet-era tank and armored vehicles can also be seen in the park.
For history enthusiasts, the Museum of Victims of Political Repressions can be added upon request, offering insight into some of the most tragic chapters of Kazakhstan's past.
Next, visit Independence Park, built to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s independence. Admire the large national flag and map of Kazakhstan before crossing the Golden Bridge to Ordabasy Square, where your guide will introduce you to key moments in Kazakhstan’s history and its rich heritage.
Depending on available time and interests, the route may also include a traditional local market or Shymkent Citadel. The guide can recommend carefully selected cafés and restaurants serving authentic Kazakh cuisine or international dishes.
As this is a private journey, the route can be adapted whenever possible, with greater emphasis on history and heritage, Kazakh culture and traditions, local life or the contemporary side of Shymkent.

After exploring Shymkent, the Kazakh driver takes guests back to the Kazakhstan–Uzbekistan border. The border is crossed independently on foot, followed by the return journey to Tashkent with the Uzbek driver.
