The sightseeing tour begins with departure from Flores on the route to Tikal. Upon arrival at the park entrance, there is a change of transportation to continue 23 kilometers north of Tikal on a dirt road, going into the jungle until reaching Uaxactún, a community surrounded by one of the best-preserved ecosystems in Mesoamerica.

During the visit, a certified tour guide will share information about the history of the Mayan civilization, the archaeology of the site, the flora and fauna of the Mayan Biosphere Reserve, and the conservation efforts that make this place an exceptional destination.

In addition to touring the plazas, temples, and pyramids of Uaxactún, you'll get to know the local community, made up of descendants of the former workers who extracted chewing gum and the xate leaf. Today, its inhabitants are recognized for their commitment to forest conservation and manage one of the largest and most successful community forest concessions in Latin America, making it an example of sustainable forest management.

The Uaxactún Archaeological Park is an archaeological-astronomical site of the Mayan culture that has been explored since 1930. It's a starting point for important tourist destinations and has Mayan architectural complexes, one of which, known as Group E, was built to observe the movement of the sun and to mark dates and events.
