Day 01

Pickup is available from any hotel, residence, or airport in Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, Gurgaon (Gurugram), Ghaziabad, or Faridabad — including Delhi (IGI) Airport, Hindon Airport in Ghaziabad, or Noida International Airport in Jewar.

Choose a pickup time between 5:00 AM and 11:00 AM, then set out on the approximately 3.5-hour drive to Agra via the Yamuna Expressway. A short comfort break can be arranged along the way if required.

Upon arrival in Agra, meet your private guide and stop for an optional breakfast or lunch at a local multi-cuisine restaurant or premium 5-star hotel restaurant, depending on your pickup time.

Later, visit Mehtab Bagh, the riverside Mughal garden located directly across the Yamuna River from the Taj Mahal. Enjoy a peaceful sunset view of the monument and capture photographs in the soft evening light.

After sightseeing, check in to your selected hotel in Agra and spend the evening at leisure.

Day 02

Begin the second day with an early-morning visit to the Taj Mahal. Marvel at the magnificent monument at sunrise, built by Emperor Shah Jahan in 1632 in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal. In the soft morning light, the brilliant white marble glows against the Agra sky, revealing the beauty of its intricate inlay work, symmetrical architecture, and Persian gardens. Your private guide shares its timeless story and helps you photograph the monument from its finest viewpoints.

Return to your hotel for breakfast and check out before continuing the sightseeing.

Continue to Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site built by Emperor Akbar in 1573. Explore its grand courtyards, royal palaces, audience halls, and fortified gateways while your guide explains the history of the Mughal emperors.

Next, visit the Baby Taj, also known as the Tomb of Itmad-ud-Daula. Admire its delicate white marble architecture, intricate inlay work, lattice screens, and peaceful Persian-style gardens.

After completing the Agra sightseeing, relax during the approximately 3.5-hour drive back to Delhi via the Yamuna Expressway. Drop-off is available at any hotel, residence, or airport anywhere across Delhi NCR.

1. What is the historical significance and background of the Taj Mahal?

The Taj Mahal is an iconic mausoleum in Agra, India, commissioned by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal. Constructed from white marble, it's renowned as a UNESCO World Heritage site and a breathtaking example of Mughal architecture, blending Persian, Islamic, and Indian styles. Its profound history as a monument of eternal love makes it one of the world's most recognized and visited landmarks.

2. What is the recommended dress code and etiquette for visiting the Taj Mahal?

When visiting the Taj Mahal, it is recommended to wear modest clothing that covers your shoulders and knees out of respect for the cultural and religious significance of the site. Comfortable walking shoes are also advisable, as there is a fair amount of walking involved. While there isn't a strict official dress code for tourists, dressing respectfully ensures a more pleasant experience for everyone.

3. Why is a 2-day overnight tour from Delhi recommended for visiting the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort?

A 2-day overnight tour from Delhi allows visitors to fully experience the Taj Mahal at both sunrise and sunset, offering unparalleled photographic opportunities and avoiding peak daytime crowds. This duration also provides ample time to explore other significant sites like the Agra Fort, Fatehpur Sikri, and the Baby Taj at a comfortable pace, enriching your historical and cultural understanding without feeling rushed.

4. Beyond the Taj Mahal, what other historical sites are included in an Agra tour?

An comprehensive Agra tour typically includes several other historical sites. You will explore the majestic Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage site and a significant Mughal fortress. The tour also visits Fatehpur Sikri, an ancient ghost town with well-preserved imperial buildings, and the exquisite Baby Taj (Tomb of I'timād-ud-Daulah), often considered a draft of the Taj Mahal itself. Scenic views from Mehtab Bagh are also often included.

5. What safety considerations should visitors be aware of when traveling to Agra?

When traveling to Agra, visitors should prioritize personal safety by being aware of their surroundings, especially in crowded areas. It's advisable to keep valuables secure and avoid displaying large amounts of cash. For transportation, using pre-arranged private vehicles, such as those included in a private tour, can enhance convenience and safety. Staying hydrated and protecting yourself from the sun are also important practical considerations.

6. What travel logistics are typically included in a private 2-day Agra tour from Delhi?

Additionally, you can enjoy panoramic sunset views of the Taj Mahal from Mehtab Bagh across the Yamuna River or from the Baby Taj area, providing stunning photographic opportunities.

8. What is there to see and do at Fatehpur Sikri, the ghost town, during the tour?

At Fatehpur Sikri, a UNESCO World Heritage site, visitors can explore a remarkably well-preserved complex of palaces, mosques, and public buildings. Highlights include the magnificent Buland Darwaza (Gate of Magnificence), the grand Jama Masjid mosque, and the intriguing Diwan-i-Khas, known for its unique central pillar.
