Matanuska Glacier Hiking Adventure｜United States

Up to 10 guests will enjoy a scenic drive along the beautiful Matanuska River in a Mercedes Sprinter. We'll stop on the way for snacks, to pick up lunch and coffee and enjoy a guided tour as you relax in comfort and style! Once at the Glacier, we will receive our micro-spikes to go on your shoes or boots which help with traction on the ice. Then you will join a guided tour by the local Matanuska Park Guides throughout the glacier and you will be told about the history, size and scope as you traverse the canyons, peaks, valleys and caves on this beginner to intermediate hike.

Here's the full breakdown of how the day will go.
9:30a - 10a I will pick you up (if it is only one group it will be at 10a)
10a - Leave Anchorage
10a - 11:30a - Drive to Palmer Alaska, Along this section of the drive I will tell you about Alaska, including Alaskan history and stories from my time here in the state! Once in Palmer we will stop at a local grocery store where you can buy food for the day, pick up coffee from Starbucks and use the restrooms.
11:30a - 12:30p we will continue driving to the Matanuska Glacier. Once here we will complete a waiver and I will pay your entrance fees and resort fees, these are included in the price.
12:30 - 1p We will meet your glacier guide, receive micro-spikes also known as crampons, which attach to your shoes and give your shoes or boots metal cleats which help to grip the glacier ice and snow.
1p - 3p We will hike the glacier with frequent stops to hear about how it has formed and where the ice comes from and all things related to glaciers.
3p - 3:30p We will return to the building and return the micro spikes and head back out on the road.
4p - 6p We will drive back to Anchorage, in the summer months sometimes we stop to eat lunch at a local lake. (In the winter it's typically pretty dark and cold at this point so we usually simply enjoy our meal in the van.)
