Day 1: Calgary to Salmon Arm

Early this morning, we drove east from Calgary onto the Trans-Canada Highway, climbing along the Bow River Valley. Passing Castle Mountain, we saw iconic views of the Rocky Mountains. We continued along Highway 1 through Roger's Gap, passing deep, fir-covered valleys. The emerald rapids of the Kicking Horse River roared faintly at the bottom. We then journeyed to Three Valleys Gorge and ascended to an observation deck overlooking the confluence of the Kicking Horse, Vermillion, and Ghost Rivers, where we could see the distinct water boundaries and the natural wonders of the canyon topography. We then journeyed to the Adams River to witness the salmon's natural migration. Salmon reproduce in a highly regulated pattern, spawning at the headwaters of rivers.

Itinerary:
Calgary → Castle Mountain (pass by) → Roger’s Pass (pass by) → Three Valley Gap (30 mins) → Adams River Salmon Run (45 mins) → Salmon Arm

Note: Salmon numbers are influenced by ecological conditions and real-time weather. Actual sightings may vary; we appreciate your understanding.

Day 2: Salmon Arm to Calgary

Departing from Salmon Arm, embark on a journey through the western foothills of the Rocky Mountains. The first stop is Sicamous Dutchman Dairy, where you can stroll among traditional red-and-white barns, breathe in the fresh scent of meadow grasses, and savor rich, handmade ice cream at your own expense—featuring bursts of vanilla bean and wild berry flavors on your tongue. Continuing on, visit the Last Spike Monument and touch the historic forged iron spike driven here in 1885, connecting Canada from coast to coast through the completion of the Canadian Pacific Railway. Next, traverse the cliffside highway of Yoho National Park, capturing fleeting glimpses of breathtaking vistas: jade-hued glaciers cascading into Bridal Veil Falls, the Kicking Horse River carving its masterpiece—the Natural Bridge—and jagged, snow-capped peaks emerging mysteriously through drifting clouds. Finally, return to Calgary.

Itinerary:
Salmon Arm → Sicamous Dutchman Dairy (self-paid handmade ice cream, 30 mins) → The Last Spike (30 mins) → Yoho National Park (pass by) → Calgary
